University of Ibadan Receives NGN 42 million donation

Felix Ohiwerei Education Trust Fund of the Nigerian Breweries donates medical equipment worth NGN42 million to the College of Medicine, University of Ibadan. The foundation donates this for the training of medical students as part of its commitment to the development of the medical profession in the country.

Among the key equipment it donate are a Blood Pressure Measurement Trainer,  Lung Sound and Auscultation Trainer, Lumbar Puncture and Epidural Simulator,  Paediatric IV Hand Simulator, Paediatric Lumbar Puncture Simulator II, and a Rectal Examination Trainer MK.

The Trust Fund also added an Airway Suction Trainer, Keele and Staff Episiotomy Repair Trainer, Abdominal Ultrasound Examination Trainer, a Chest Drain and Needle Decompression Trainer, Ultrasound Vascular Access Trainer and a SimMom Birth Simulator.

Jordi Borrut Bel who is the Managing Director/CEO, Nigerian Breweries Plc, praised the institution for the dedication of its team and the standard of training. He said this while he was speaking at the meeting where the handover of the equipment at the College of Medicine took place. He added that due to the dedication of the medical school, UI has encouraged the Trust Fund to commit over NGN90 million in various projects in support of the College since 2015.

 According Jordi Borrut Bel, the medical profession has remained one of the most noble and respected professions in the world. More than ever needed, the profession fights to protect the entire world the most dreadful virus ever.

He adds that it is then collective responsibility of everyone to prepare the future doctors in the best possible way.

The Provost of the College, Prof. Olapade Olaopa extolled Nigerian Breweries Plc and the education fund for the kind gesture. He said that the equipment would help improve to the qualitative medical education in the school with optimal impact on the students.
